DEELNAME AAN WORLD CUP CROSS COUNTRY RALLY
Vorig jaar vroeg Kees Koolen of Mirjam Pol interesse had om naast hem plaats te nemen in zijn Can-Am Maverick X3. Koolen – Wereldkampioen Cross Country Baja 2020 – zocht een goede navigator ‘als reserve’ omdat zijn vaste Dakar navigator de rest van het jaar niet altijd inzetbaar is. Pol stemde in, ging de uitdaging aan en zit dit jaar als vaste navigator naast Koolen in het World Cup Cross Country Rally 2021.

“Zowel Mirjam als ikzelf zijn beide motorrijders in hart en nieren, we hebben dezelfde instelling, zijn beiden eigenwijs en hebben op dezelfde wijze leren navigeren. Dat past bij mij en wij zijn natuurlijk ook nog eens bloedje fanatiek en gaan voor het hoogst haalbare”, motiveert Koolen zijn keuze om voor Pol te kiezen.

De eerste wedstrijd in de WC Cross Country Rally wordt volgende week verreden in Spanje, Andalusië. De auto is op een aantal kleine maar wel belangrijke punten verbeterd, zo is er voor een ander veersysteem gekozen

This is just an update with the progress of KR-XX21, and to re-assure you we are all systems go!!!

COVID SITUATION
Currently, it must be noted that South Africa has a VERY Low infection rate with a 95% Recovery rate as per the latest national Institute Health Department Statistics. (See “COVID19 SA UPDATES” on Facebook).
Full travel is allowed within South Africa, but most importantly International travellers are allowed to travel to South Africa.

When Flying to SA, International Competitors must do a PCR Test in own country before departing. When you arrive at Johannesburg International Airport, a mandatory PCR test will be done at the airport, results are given within a few hours.
KR Orga will also have a strict COVID-19 Protocol in place and a “Rally Bubble” at the Bivouacs for additional precaution.

NOTE: Should a person test positive on arrival at Johannesburg Airport, or after KR-XX21, KR Orga has arranged a solution for quarantine close to the airport.

In addition, at the end of KR-XX21, KR ORGA will also assist International Teams to do a PCR test at the last Bivouac, results will be issued with Internationally Recognised Covid-19 certificate.

STAGES
PRE RUN: All Stages are complete, and Final Pre Run will commence in July with our Pre Run Team Head by Simon Schimmel(Dutch)-KR Technical Director. The same team will do the Route Opening 1 week ahead of KR-XX21!
