Afgelopen zaterdag vond het open Nederlands kampioenschap enduro plaats in Hellendoorn. Doordat het al lange tijd droog is in Nederland lagen de drie proeven er droog en stoffig bij wat de omstandigheden voor de rijders niet makkelijker maakte.
In de eerste proef zat Daan direct goed in zijn ritme. Hij voelde zich thuis op deze ondergrond. Hij opende dan ook met de snelste tijd.

HOLCOMBE & FREEMAN Finish the Job, REMES Against All Odds!
The final round of this 2018 season, which took place in Rüdersdorf, Germany, kept all its promises after seven other thrilling GPs. While Steve HOLCOMBE (GB – Beta) and Brad FREEMAN (GB – Beta Boano) were able to lift their crowns on the first day, there was drama until the very last in the E2 class…
In EnduroGP, Steve HOLCOMBE finished the job with a double victory. Crowned on Saturday after a great battle with Brad FREEMAN, the Factory Beta rider dominated on Sunday – the Brit winning his second EnduroGP crown in a row. FREEMAN was able to take advantage of Alex SALVINI’s (I – Husqvarna) setbacks to finish Vice-Champion while Eero REMES (SF – TM) completed the final podium of the Championship.
Aan het weer kon het natuurlijk al niet liggen. In een stralend nazomer weekend was het voor vele motorsportliefhebbers werkelijk genieten aan de Poelbuurt in Opende.
De KNMV Piepercross op zaterdag, de MON Brommercross op zondagochtend en het spektakelstuk, de 2uurs Endurocross op de zondagmiddag.
Honderden bezoekers zagen op beide dagen dat de coureurs in de diverse klassen zichtbaar van het nieuwe circuit genoten. Alle rijders waren vol lof over het snelle circuit dat zich onder de omstandigheden uitzonderlijk goed hield.

REMES Titled, SALVINI Devastated!
This last day of racing in 2018 offered EnduroGP fans and spectators a lot of “drama” and an intense fight in Enduro 2 where Eero REMES (SF – TM) was shockingly crowned 2018 World Champion to the detriment of Alex SALVINI (I – Husqvarna).
However, SALVINI had been well on his way to claiming the World Crown… despite brilliant starts from Eero REMES and Loïc LARRIEU (F – Yamaha), the Jolly Enduro Team rider was riding cleverly and was on course for his title. He even overtook his main rival on the second lap and therefore could’ve gone straight to his second career title. But again, bad luck got involved during a liaison section, a branch intersected the cables of the fuel injection… after receiving help from many other riders including HOLCOMBE and FREEMAN, SALVINI managed to make some repairs but arrived at the time control 31 minutes late – he was disqualified and sadly saw his title dreams fly away!
HOLCOMBE On Top of the World!
As expected after the Grand Prix of France and this domination all season, this first day of the final round of 2018 saw Steve HOLCOMBE (GB – Beta) conquer both the E3 and EnduroGP titles, and Brad FREEMAN (GB – Beta Boano) win his first senior title, becoming the World E1 Champion. Let’s look back at this day full of emotion…
Steve HOLCOMBE only needed a handful of points to win his second consecutive title in EnduroGP… but instead of just doing what was necessary, he rode brilliantly, and the Factory Beta rider took his 5th win of the year after a good battle with Brad FREEMAN.
