The 10th and final stage of the Silk Way Rally proved to be one of the toughest of the event. Winding its way along fast rocky tracks and through the ravines and dry river beds of the Gobi Desert, the 255-kilometre timed special required 100 percent focus right to the finish.

A fourth stage win for Kevin Benavides in the 2019 Silk Way Rally. Today saw the tenth and final day of racing and the arrival in Dunhuang, with Monster Energy Honda Team’s Argentinean rider finishing his maiden participation in the rally with another triumph.

The second round of the FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship, the Silk Way Rally, has come to an end. With a triumph in the final stage Monster Energy Honda Team’s Argentinean ace takes his stage victory tally to four as the 5000-kilometre odyssey wraps up in Dunhuang.

ROCKSTAR ENERGY HUSQVARNA FACTORY RACING RIDER THIRD ON FINAL STAGE TO SECURE RUNNER-UP OVERALL RESULT
Andrew Short has claimed his best ever result in an FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship event by placing second overall in the 2019 Silk Way Rally. Short, the first rider to enter the event’s final stage, ultimately posted the third-fastest time to secure his impressive result in the overall motorcycle class standings.

Organisator Jean Louis Schlesser komt op maandag 15 juli naar SnowWorld in Zoetermeer, voor de presentatie van de Africa Eco Race 2020. Hij spreekt over de doelstelling van de wedstrijd en de uitdaging van rallyraid in de woestijn. Het is een avontuur dat z’n weerga niet kent, terug naar de oorsprong van de sport!
