Day two of the FIM Maxxis Enduro World Championship GP of Chile marked a debut Enduro 3 class win for Sherco’s Matti Seistola while Antoine Meo finished as the outright fastest. Heavy overnight rain ensured a complete contrast in conditions for competitors at the GP of Chile in Talca. Forced to abandon the extreme test and shorten the enduro test for the first two laps, Chile dished out a tough day for all.

Day 1 video highlights. Explosive start to the opening day of competition in the 2015 FIM Maxxis Enduro World Championship sees Antoine Meo lead everyone home… The first day of action in the 2015 EWC series delivered tight, close racing across most classes in Talca, Chile.
Rising to the front, favourites Christophe NAMBOTIN (KTM) and Antoine MEO (KTM) secured victory in Enduro 1 and Enduro 2 respectively. Mathias BELLINO (Husqvarna) made a welcome return to action with a confident win in the Enduro 3 category while Jamie MCCANNEY (Husqvarna) claimed first blood in Enduro Junior.

Back to Chile to start!
After seven months of waiting, the highly anticipated start of the 2015 MAXXIS FIM Enduro World Championship is now just days away with the series kicking off with the Grand Prix Acerbis of Chile!
This Grand Prix is the first of 7 rounds and will take place once again in the capital of Maule region and around the foot of the Cordillera of Andes, Talca. Once again, a big heat will welcome the riders that are all back from a winter preparation.
On the second day of riding Enduro Championship in Italy / Rieti the defending champion Maurizio Micheluz was unstoppable again: The newly crowned Husqvarna rider again won the overall title of all riders, as thus the E1 class.

Nina Klink verrast met zilver op EK enduro Italië

Na haar teleurstellende debuut vorig jaar op het EK in Tsjechië (tweemaal niet aan de finish) kwam Nina Klink eerst maar eens voor “uitrijden”. De 60 km lange route met vooral geitenpaadjes en andere tracks vol losse en vaste keien was ook al niet op het Nederlandse lijf geschreven. De route klom daarbij van 450 m tot bijna 1400 meter hoogte bij de finish van de lange tweede enduroproef. Daar lag zelfs nog sneeuw. Ook de crossproef was op een weliswaar vlak maar knetterhard veld waar na twee dagen nog steeds geen walletjes in lagen.
Met proeftijden steeds bij de eerste vier groeide het zelfvertrouwen bij Nina Klink snel. Door winst op de laatste enduroproef sloot ze dag één af op een mooie derde plaats, net achter de Franse EK kampioene van 2014, Audrey Rossat.
Dag twee begon meteen met een proefwinst maar in de tweede lange enduroproef ging het helemaal mis. Ze verloor zo’n 70 seconden voordat ze KTM weer op het rechte pad had gesleurd. Met de tanden op elkaar won zij vervolgens zes van de zeven resterende proeven. Hiermee eindigde ze op een zeer fraaie tweede plaats op slechts 17 seconden van winnares Sanna Karkkainen en voor de Française Rossat.
Bij de mannen traden negen rijders aan in het niet ver van Rome gelegen Riëti. Zes van hen hadden het lange paasweekeinde nog benut voor een extra training op harde ondergrond in het Noordelijk gelegen Bobbio. Die investering betaalde zich uit voor Robin Nijkamp (E2) die van hen de meeste punten haalde door vijfde en zesde te worden. Op dag twee was dat zelfs een twintigste plaats in de scratch met 195 deelnemers. Wesley Pittens (E3) scoorde ook goed
