After seven months of thrilling racing, sweat, tears, and plenty of gruelling competition, the 2017 EnduroGP season draws to an end this weekend with the Acerbis Grand Prix of Germany, in Zschopau. With only the FIM Youth 125cc title already decided, Germany will see four new world champions crowned.
First organising a World Championship event back in 2004, the MSC Rund um Zschopau is back. “We’ve been working to bring this excellent event back to the championship for several years,” Confirmed ABC Communications’ Alain BLANCHARD.

Tweemaal podium in zware EK enduro finale Slowakije
De Slowaakse organisatie had alles uit de kast gehaald om er een zeer mooie en zware finale van te maken. Drie ronden voor de mannen van ruim 70 kilometer met maar twee kilometer asfalt erin door de fraaie heuvels rond Gelnica. Met zes uur rijtijd en krappe tijden op de tijdcontroles was het de hele dag werken. Drie prachtige proeven maakten het af waarbij vooral de erg lange enduroproef het verschil maakte.
Daan Bruijsten (E1), net terug van een knieblessure, kwam op de eerste dag nooit in zijn ritme. De tweede dag zette hij twee goede ronden neer maar in de laatste ronde was de energie op. Hij had te weinig kunnen trainen na zijn blessure. Gelukkig kon hij in de slotcross met een goede derde plaats zijn fraaie tweede plek in het eindklassement behouden. Daarvoor moest hij ’s morgens nog wel eerst de achterband wisselen want op het korte stukje route blies de mousse de laatste adem uit.
Thierry Pittens (E2) had maar één punt achterstand op de Zweed Oliver Nelson voor de derde plaats. Maar ook hij ontdekte dat een enduro in Bergeijk niet de ideale voorbereiding is voor een Slowaakse enduroproef. Door goed crossen pakte hij nog iets terug maar uiteindeliik bleef het bij een welverdiende vierde plaats.
In dezelfde klasse reed extreme liefhebber Robin Holtmeulen keurig op tijd en dat resulteerde in een zestiende plaats in het eindklassement.
In de E3 reden deze keer geen Nederlanders mee. Lucas Dolfing eindige ondanks een gemiste wedstrijd als vijfde. Bas Klein Haneveld als elfde.
En dan bij de dames de Nina Klink story aflevering vier in het gevecht voor het podium. Op dag één stond ze aanvankelijk als “gediskwalificeerd” op de lijst. Ze zou de finish controle gemist hebben. Dat werd gelukkig recht gezet

“The Italian Job” – Not just a classic film, but the result of an enduro season:
The third and last day of the final round of the Enduro European Championship took place in Gelnica / Slovakia, on Sunday, 15th of October 2017. But the result seems rather mediteran, because in the overall rating of all riders, three Italians were at the top of the podium: The new overall champion is the Junior Matteo Pavoni, who is also champion in the junior class !E1! on the 250th four-stroke KTM.
His already 34 year old countryman Maurizio Micheluz,took second place and Oscar Balletti cam third, both on a 300cc Husqvarna-2-stroke bike.

The second day of the three-day final round of the Enduro European Championship took place in Gelnica / Slovakia, on Saturday, 14 October 2017. One day before the ultimate end of the championship, the in four different classes the champions are crowned already. They had reached so many points in advantage that they can no longer be called up.
The first new champion was Joakim Grelsson in the youngest of the junior class, in the U20 class for the 125cc riders. In the morning the Swede was still just nine points ahead, but his fellow countryman and challenger Calle Johansson got technical problems and fell out prematurely. So the KTM rider was able to catch up no longer and won this title as well as the working-pavilion, the promoter Wolfgang Butzner had donated as support for the youngest drivers for the championship title.
FIM EUROPE ENDURO CHAMPIONSHIP – 4rd round in Slovakia – Trouble for the leading riders
The first day of the final round of the Enduro European Championship took place on Friday 13th October 2017 in Gelnica / Slovakia. More than 180 km challenging offroad had to be crossed this day.
In the overall, Junior Matteo Pavoni was able to defend his lead with a seventh position this day. The second of the championship, Oscar Balletti, left his bike with a technical problem and the former third, the Italian Maurizio Micheluz, could catch up hugely: This experienced pilot, who had already been two-time overall champion, was winning the days special tests. Second was the German Marco Neubert in front of Jonathan Rosse from Switzerland.
