The 2016 FIM International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) that will take place from Tuesday 11 October to Sunday 16 October at the Circuito Navarra, Spain has made a strong start to its planning process with a good level of pre-entries that currently sits just short of seven hundred riders in total.
This impressive line-up is led by the Australian national teams who will be present in Spain to defend their titles in the FIM World Trophy class, the FIM Junior World Trophy class and the FIM Women’s World Trophy class. Typically, the Australian teams will be up against strong opposition in order to retain their respective titles from the other usual leading countries in the form of host nation Spain, USA, Italy and Great Britain to name but a few.
Currently the pre-entry list includes no less than twenty-five nations in the FIM World Trophy class, twenty-two countries are represented in the FIM Junior World Trophy class and nine teams are shown in the FIM Women’s World Trophy class. To add to this already sizeable tally is the notable number of one hundred and fifty-six club teams who are also on the overall listing.
This year’s ISDE will also incorporate the first ever FIM Enduro Vintage Trophy, which will take place during the last three days of the 2016 ISDE. This will consist of the following programme – Friday – technical verification, warm up, acceleration test in the evening and parc ferme / Saturday – course, enduro test and parc ferme / and Sunday – course, cross final and prize-giving ceremony. International vintage riders from all over the World will be invited to join this first edition, so that the historical motorcycles from over thirty years ago will ride again as part of this prestigious event.
Joint promoters of the 2016 ISDE, Al Kamel Systems and Bassella Experiences are confident that the riders, teams and fans will not only be able to enjoy the fantastic facilities provided by the Circuito Navarra motorsports venue that was first opened in 2010, but they will also be able to appreciate the rich culture of the region, the warm climate and the many local attractions that the area can offer.
As always the opening parade that will declare the ISDE officially open will take place on Sunday 9 October. This will follow a famous route through the city of Pamplona ahead of the six days of action which will use the terrain around the Circuito Navarra, ahead of the event closing with the final motocross test taking place beside the permanent tarmac track.
Al Kamel Systems and Bassella Experiences have a great pedigree in motorcycle sport with members of their team having previously raced in the ISDE, the Dakar Rally, organised many Spanish national enduro and motocross events plus the 1985 ISDE, and 2014 Enduro Grand Prix of Spain. They are also responsible for organising the most popular enduro race in Spain, this is known as ‘The Bassella Race 1’, which welcomes over one thousand riders each year.
