Helped in part by his 14-point advantage over closest rival\u00a0<strong>Ivan CERVANTES<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>PHILLIPS<\/strong>\u2019 third place was more than enough to secure the championship. \u201c<em>I\u2019m lost for words \u2013 it\u2019s an incredible feeling to be world champion<\/em>,\u201d told\u00a0<strong>PHILLIPS<\/strong>. \u201c<em>To win a championship for my first time in the senior ranks is more than I ever expected. All season Ivan and myself have fought hard, it\u2019s been a great battle and I\u2019m delighted to have won<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the Enduro 1 ranks,\u00a0<strong>Christophe NAMBOTIN (F-KTM)<\/strong> picked up from where he left off on day one by winning. \u201c<em>I had no problems today,<\/em>\u201d said\u00a0<strong>NAMBOTIN<\/strong>.\u00a0<em>\u201cI felt strong all day and just enjoyed it all. It\u2019s great to end the series with another victory.<\/em>\u201d Making it two podium results on the bounce in France, Sherco\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Jeremy TARROUX (F) <\/strong>placed as runner-up to\u00a0<strong>NAMBOTIN<\/strong>. Having missed out on a top three result on day one, Yamaha\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Marc BOURGEOIS (F) <\/strong>finished third.\u00a0<strong>Eero REMES (FIN-TM)<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Jaume BETRIU (S-Husqvarna) <\/strong>completed the top five.<\/p>\n<p>There was no change at the head of the Enduro 2 class with Husqvarna\u2019s<strong> Pela RENET (F) <\/strong>claiming his eighth win of the year. \u201c<em>Today has been a fantastic end to a perfect season,<\/em>\u201d remarked\u00a0<strong>RENET<\/strong>. \u201c<em>It\u2019s amazing to win both days in France.<\/em>\u201d Unable to make any inroads to\u00a0<strong>RENET<\/strong>, Italy\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Alex SALVINI (Honda) <\/strong>had to be content with second position. Delivering a determined ride following his retirement on day one, France\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Johnny AUBERT (Beta)<\/strong> made it onto the podium in third. Newcomer to the EWC in France, Yamaha mounted\u00a0<strong>Gregory ARANDA (F) <\/strong>delivered an impressive ride to place fourth. Although not repeating his podium result from day one, France\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Romain DUMONTIER (Yamaha)<\/strong> carded yet another solid top five result with fifth.<\/p>\n<p>With the E3 title still up for grabs,\u00a0<strong>CERVANTES<\/strong>fought hard to turn his championship winning fortunes around. Needing to win, he did exactly that but with\u00a0<strong>PHILLIPS <\/strong>chasing him home for third it just wasn\u2019t enough for the Spaniard to bag his fifth world crown. \u201c<em>I gave it my best shot but it just wasn\u2019t to be,<\/em>\u201d said\u00a0<strong>CERVANTES<\/strong>. \u201c<em>It\u2019s been a hard year with many highs and lows. I\u2019m just happy to have ended it with a victory.<\/em>\u201d Returning to the podium for the first time since the GP of Sweden, Sherco\u2019s<strong> Matti SEISTOLA (FIN) <\/strong>finished second. Knowing a top ten result would easily secure him the world championship\u00a0<strong>PHILLIPS <\/strong>placed his KTM in third position to take the title.\u00a0<strong>Aigar LEOK (EST-TM)<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Fabien PLANET (F-Sherco)<\/strong> rounded out the top five.<\/p>\n<p>Proving again to be the fastest junior rider at the GP of France, Husqvarna\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Loic LARRIEU (F)<\/strong>recorded his second Enduro Junior victory of the weekend. With the title secured on day one, Great Britain\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Daniel MCCANNEY (Beta)<\/strong> followed\u00a0<strong>Larrieu <\/strong>home for second with\u00a0<strong>Giacomo REDONDI (I-Beta)<\/strong> claiming the third step of the podium. Carding another top five result\u00a0<strong>Oliver NELSON (SWE-KTM) <\/strong>was fourth while\u00a0<strong>Eloi SALSENCH (S-KTM) <\/strong>was fifth.<br \/>\nCarding his first victory of the series, Italy\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Matteo BRESOLIN (I-KTM)<\/strong> ended 2014 on a high with the 125 Youth Cup win. Behind him the battle for championship honours was between\u00a0<strong>Davide SORECA (I-Yamaha) <\/strong>and Sweden\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Albin ELOWSON (Husqvarna)<\/strong>. Despite placing as the runner-up,\u00a0<strong>ELOWSON <\/strong>missed out on the title by four points to SORECA. \u201c<em>I\u2019m so, so happy,<\/em>\u201d told an emotional\u00a0<strong>SORECA<\/strong>. \u201c<em>To be a world champion is an amazing feeling<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Recording her third enduro crown,\u00a0<strong>Laia SANZ (S-Honda)<\/strong> took another victory in the Women\u2019s class to win the title.\u00a0<em>\u201cThis year has not been so easy but I\u2019m really happy to have taken my third championship,\u201d<\/em> said\u00a0<strong>SANZ<\/strong>.
