\"The<\/a>The 2014\u00a0Maxxis FIM Enduro World Championship<\/strong> heads to\u00a0Brioude <\/strong>in France to close out what has already been a dramatic and action packed season to date.\u00a0Despite two world titles already decided, the\u00a0Grand Prix\u00a0AMV\u00a0of France<\/strong> has still a lot to offer. The battle for honours in the Enduro 3 <\/strong>class is still very much to play along with the titles in the\u00a0Junior<\/strong>,\u00a0FIM Youth Cup 125cc<\/strong> andWomen<\/strong> categories!<\/p>\n

15 years of patience…<\/strong><\/p>\n

After the Moto Club du Haut Cantal and the city of St Flour in 2013, it is their “neighbours” of the\u00a0Moto Club de Brioude<\/strong> (Haute-Loire), who have been designated by the\u00a0FIM <\/strong>and the\u00a0Federation Fran\u00e7aise de Motocyclisme<\/strong> (FFM<\/strong>) to organise the seventh and final round of the 2014 EWC. After 15 years of absence, the\u00a0Maxxis FIM Enduro World Championship<\/strong> finds its way back to the beautiful town of\u00a0Brioude<\/strong>. This Motorcycle Club \u2013 ultra motivated and chaired by\u00a0Herv\u00e9 SAUVAYRE<\/strong>\u2013 organised in addition to their world round in 1999, 15 rounds of the French Enduro Championship (last organization in October 2012), 4 European Enduro Championship rounds and the ISDT (formerly ISDE) in 1980! With an excellent knowledge in promoting enduro, the\u00a0Moto Club de Brioude<\/strong> is very experienced and should offer riders and spectators a great show throughout the weekend.<\/p>\n

With a very difficult and technical track of about 55 kilometres to ride three times each day, it will be an intense time for the stars of the EWC and all enduro fans with French, Spanish and Italian spectators expected in mass for this exciting season finale. The paddock will be located at thePlace de la Libert\u00e9<\/strong>, close to the Town Hall<\/strong>. The\u00a0Cross Test <\/strong>will be located at the “Gr\u00e8zes<\/strong>” in the municipality of\u00a0Agnat<\/strong>. For its part, the\u00a0Xtreme Test<\/strong> will be located on the road to\u00a0Champagnac<\/strong>. Organisers expect refreshment and meals on site throughout the weekend. Finally the\u00a0Enduro Test<\/strong>will be held in the municipality of\u00a0Agnat <\/strong>while the last\u00a0KTM Super Test<\/strong> of the season will take place close to the city centre of\u00a0Brioude<\/strong>.
\nBrioude <\/strong>is located in the region of\u00a0Auvergne <\/strong>and in the\u00a0Haute-Loire <\/strong>area. This charming town of\u00a0Livradois <\/strong>is home to nearly 7,000 inhabitants and is situated along the riverbanks of the\u00a0Allier<\/strong>.Brioude <\/strong>lies 70 kilometres south of\u00a0Clermont-Ferrand <\/strong>and 60 km north-east of\u00a0Le Puy-en-Velay<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

PHILLIPS v\u2019s CERVANTES – the last act!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Home hero\u00a0Christophe NAMBOTIN (KTM) <\/strong>already clinched the\u00a0Enduro 1 <\/strong>title last time out at the\u00a0GP Acerbis of Italy <\/strong>but the position of Vice-Champion is still undecided. It will be a battle of wills between\u00a0Eero REMES (SF – TM) <\/strong>and\u00a0Cristobal GUERRERO (ESP – KTM)<\/strong> for the championship runner-up result. Just one point separates both riders with the advantage in favour ofRemes<\/strong>. Eager to excel on home turf the Sherco duo of\u00a0Jeremy TARROUX (F) <\/strong>and\u00a0Anthony BOISSIERE (F) <\/strong>will be fighting hard to reach the podium and should become an important factor in theREMES <\/strong>and\u00a0GUERRERO <\/strong>duel. Husqvarna riders\u00a0Thomas OLDRATI (I)<\/strong> and\u00a0Jaume BETRIU (E)<\/strong> and also\u00a0Rudy MORONI (I – KTM)<\/strong>will want to finish out the 2014 season in style.<\/p>\n

Pierre-Alexandre RENET (F – HVA) <\/strong>was crowned the\u00a0Enduro 2 World Champion<\/strong> at round six in\u00a0Lumezzane<\/strong>, Italy but the race for second place remains wide open between Alex SALVINI (I – Honda)<\/strong> and\u00a0Johnny AUBERT (F – Beta)<\/strong>. Although\u00a0Salvini <\/strong>holds a six-point advantage over\u00a0Aubert<\/strong>, the Frenchman will be hoping to use home support to his advantage in\u00a0Brioude<\/strong>. But\u00a0SALVINI <\/strong>\u2013 boosted by his double victory in Italy will be really motivated to end his tough season on a high. Third place finish is not an option for him. Ready to become the spoiler in the\u00a0SALVINI <\/strong>and\u00a0AUBERT<\/strong> battle, rising star\u00a0Lorenzo SANTOLINO (E – Sherco) <\/strong>took a massive step forward in Italy with his runner-up result on day two and will try hard to replicate that form in France.\u00a0Oriol MENA (E – Beta),<\/strong> Jonathan BARRAGAN (E – HVA)<\/strong>, Italian\u00a0Mirko GRITTI (I – KTM)<\/strong> and the French\u00a0Romain DUMONTIER (FRA – Yam)<\/strong> are also very motivated for the final round of the series.<\/p>\n

In the Senior ranks the Enduro 3<\/strong> title remains undecided and is set to go down to the final special test of the year in France. Severely injuring his foot in Italy (open fracture of the 4th and 5th metatarsals), the leader\u00a0Matthew PHILLIPS (AUS – KTM) <\/strong>should still take the start in Brioude to defend his 11-point lead over teammate\u00a0Ivan CERVANTES (ESP \u2013 KTM)<\/strong>. The Spaniard is back to full fitness and is more motivated than ever to record his fifth world title following a four-year wait! The final step of the podium also remains to be awarded.\u00a0Mathias BELLINO (FRA – HVA)<\/strong> is still out due to his knee injury and will not defend his position so\u00a0Luis CORREIA (P – Beta)<\/strong>,\u00a0Matti SEISTOLA (SF – Sherco) <\/strong>and\u00a0Jeremy JOLY (F – KTM) <\/strong>are all in contention for the prize.\u00a0JOLY<\/strong>always excels in France and will be the rider to watch of the trio.\u00a0Antoine BASSET (FRA – Gas Gas)<\/strong>won\u2019t be far away either while Fabien PLANET (Sherco)<\/strong> \u2013 who will make his last race in the EWC \u2013 will be looking to end his career on a high.\u00a0Aigar LEOK (EST – TM)<\/strong> will give everything to reach the top five after a difficult season!<\/p>\n

MCCANNEY under pressure?<\/strong><\/p>\n

In\u00a0Junior <\/strong>class the title seems to weigh in favour of Britain\u2019s\u00a0Danny MCCANNEY (Beta)<\/strong>. With a 22-point lead over his main rival\u00a0Giacomo REDONDI (I – Beta)<\/strong>, the Beta Boano rider has all the cards in hand to win the title on Saturday night. But can the 2013 SuperEnduro Junior World Champ withstand the pressure? Will he bag the Junior title just one year after his one indoors? If he has his way,\u00a0MCCANNEY <\/strong>will prove that he is the most complete young rider of his generation. ButREDONDI <\/strong>\u2013 who retains a very slim chance of title \u2013 might dispute with him this distinction and win both titles in the same year. Given the results of the last Grand Prix, the two young prospects will also deal with the former crossman\u00a0Lo\u00efc LARRIEU (FRA – HVA) <\/strong>and\u00a0Jamie MCCANNEY (GB – HVA)<\/strong>. Never in the recent history has the FIM Youth Cup 125cc<\/strong> been so undecided. Only 10 points separate\u00a0Davide SORECA (I – Yam)<\/strong>, the current leader, and\u00a0Albin ELOWSON (S – HVA)<\/strong>. The Youth Cup will be worth its weight in gold in\u00a0Brioude<\/strong>. Especially since some riders like\u00a0Michele MARCHELLI (I – KTM)<\/strong>,\u00a0Matteo BRESOLIN (I – KTM)<\/strong> or\u00a0Benjamin HERRERA (CL – TM) <\/strong>and\u00a0Jesper BORJESSON (S – HVA)<\/strong> have the ability to come and play spoiler in one way or the other. Undoubtedly, a high drama and action packed race awaits\u00a0Brioude<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Finally, in the\u00a0Women’s Cup<\/strong>, despite holding a small eight-point lead over\u00a0Jane DANIELS (GB – HVA)<\/strong>, one wonders who will stop\u00a0Laia SANZ (E – Honda)<\/strong> in her quest for a third world title. Behind her,\u00a0DANIELS <\/strong>seems destined to defend her position as Vice-Champion while\u00a0Jessica GARDINER (AUS – Sherco)<\/strong> should retain the final podium spot. For her part,\u00a0Samantha TICHET (F – KTM) <\/strong>will want to shine on home soil and will be challenged to keep her fourth place against her compatriot\u00a0Geraldine FOURNEL (F – Sherco)<\/strong> and the Finnish\u00a0Marita NYQVIST (Yam).<\/strong><\/p>\n
