Italy\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Alex SALVINI (Honda)<\/strong> ended his weekend of racing on a high by topping the Enduro 2 category while France\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Antoine MEO (KTM)<\/strong> capped off a perfect weekend with his second Enduro 1 class victory. <!--more-->After her stunning win in the Women\u2019s Enduro X race at X Games Barcelona, Spain\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Laia SANZ (KTM) <\/strong>returned to EWC competition for day two in Portugal and claimed a comfortable win in the Women\u2019s Cup category.<\/p>\n<p>Topping the first two special tests of the day in\u00a0<strong>E1<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>MEO <\/strong>began day two in a determined mood. Maintaining his strong pace throughout the day, the Frenchman continued to extend his lead and secured his seventh victory of the season.\u00a0<em>\u201cI started strong and just tried to build on it throughout the day,<\/em>\u201d confirmed\u00a0<strong>MEO<\/strong>. \u201c<em>Today was the beginning of the second half of the championship and I knew it was important to win. I\u2019ve gained some important points in Portugal and I hope to keep improving at the next round in Romania.<\/em>\u201d Behind\u00a0<strong>MEO <\/strong>the battle for the runner-up result was fought out between France\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Antony BOISSIERE (Sherco)<\/strong> and Finland\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Matti SEISTOLA (Husqvarna)<\/strong>. Crashing on the penultimate cross test,\u00a0<strong>SEISTOLA <\/strong>handed a sizable advantage to\u00a0<strong>BOISSIERE<\/strong>that helped him to secure his debut EWC podium result with second overall. Placing just seven tenths of a second behind the Sherco rider,\u00a0<strong>SEISTOLA<\/strong> completed the third step of the podium. Italy\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Thomas OLDRATI (Husaberg)<\/strong> finished just two seconds behind\u00a0<strong>SEISTOLA <\/strong>to place fourth with Finland\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Eero REMES (TM) <\/strong>a further three seconds behind in fifth.<\/p>\n<p>Feeling extremely confident in the terrain,\u00a0<strong>SALVINI <\/strong>delivered a dominant performance in the highly competitive\u00a0<strong>E2<\/strong> class to win day two. Posting the fastest time in seven of the day\u2019s 12 special tests, the Italian claimed a 38-second margin of victory. \u201c<em>It been perfect weekend for me,<\/em>\u201d told a pleased<strong>SALVINI<\/strong>.\u00a0<em>\u201cI really enjoyed these special tests and felt so comfortable on the bike. Winning in Portugal was important to prove that I could win in Europe and challenge for the E2 world title.<\/em>\u201d Unable to match the pace set by Salvini, Spain\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Ivan CERVANTES (KTM)<\/strong> was forced to settle for second position. Improving on his previous day\u2019s result of fourth, France\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Pela RENET (Husaberg) <\/strong>completed the top three. Placing just eight seconds behind his fellow compatriot, KTM\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Johnny AUBERT<\/strong> ended his day in fourth. Spain\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Victor GUERRERO (KTM)<\/strong> rounded out the top five.<\/p>\n<p>Proving that he\u2019s now back to full speed,\u00a0<strong>NAMBOTIN <\/strong>delivered an incredible display of riding to win the\u00a0<strong>Enduro 3<\/strong> class while also topping the unofficial outright classification. Setting the fastest time in all of the day\u2019s 12 special tests, the Frenchman topped his class by over 57 seconds.\u00a0<em>\u201cIt\u2019s been an incredible day for me,<\/em>\u201d commented\u00a0<strong>NAMBOTIN<\/strong>. \u201c<em>After my problems during the early part of the year I now feel like my normal self. It\u2019s been fantastic to win the E3 class but also the outright classification. I\u2019m looking forward to the next round of the season in Romania.<\/em>\u201d Claiming his first podium result of the season, France\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Mathias BELLINO (Husaberg)<\/strong> placed as runner-up to\u00a0<strong>NAMBOTIN<\/strong>. Portugal\u2019s<strong>Luis CORREIA (Beta) <\/strong>ended his home race on a high by finishing third overall. Italy\u2019s<strong> Manuel MONNI (KTM)<\/strong> ended his day in fourth with Estonia\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Aigar LEOK (TM) <\/strong>placing fifth despite a costly crash on the third enduro test.<\/p>\n<p>Repeating his winning result from day one, Australia\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Matt PHILLIPS (Husqvarna)<\/strong> secured his fourth consecutive\u00a0victory of the season in the<strong>Enduro Junior<\/strong> class. Italy\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Giacomo REDONDI (KTM)<\/strong> improved on his fifth position from day one to place as runner-up to\u00a0<strong>PHILLIPS<\/strong>. Ending his day less than six seconds behind\u00a0<strong>REDONDI<\/strong>, France\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Loic LARRIEU (Husaberg) <\/strong>completed the top three. Portugal\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Luis OLIVEIRA (Yamaha)<\/strong> was fourth with Spain\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Mario ROMAN (Husaberg) <\/strong>rounding out the top five. In the Enduro Youth Cup class, Manxman\u00a0<strong>Jamie MCCANNEY (Husaberg)<\/strong> secured his second win of the weekend. Sweden\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Albin ELOWSON (Husaberg)<\/strong> placed as runner-up with Italy\u2019s<strong>Dawid CIUCCI (KTM)<\/strong> rounding out the top three.<\/p>\n<p>In the\u00a0<strong>Women\u2019s Cup<\/strong> class,\u00a0<strong>SANZ <\/strong>produced an impressive display of riding to secure her class win by almost three minutes.
