\"First<\/a>Double Delight For Salvini in GP Maxxis of Argentina<\/strong><\/p>\n

VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS<\/a><\/strong> Italy\u2019s\u00a0Alex SALVINI (Honda) <\/strong>continued his winning ways in the\u00a0Maxxis Enduro World Championship<\/strong> with a stunning victory on day two at the\u00a0GP\u00a0Maxxis\u00a0of Argentina<\/strong>. France\u2019s\u00a0Antoine MEO (KTM) <\/strong>collected his fourth Enduro 1 class win of the season while Estonia\u2019s Aigar LEOK (TM) <\/strong>delivered a winning result in the Enduro 3 category in\u00a0San Juan<\/strong>. In the Enduro Junior class, Italy\u2019s\u00a0Rudi MORONI (KTM)<\/strong> secured his debut EWC win while Britain\u2019s\u00a0Jamie MCCANNEY (Husaberg) <\/strong>topped the Enduro Youth Cup.<\/p>\n

Following his breakthrough win at the GP of Chile,\u00a0Alex SALVINI <\/strong>has now cemented himself as one of the main championship contenders for this year\u2019s\u00a0Enduro 2<\/strong> class title. Proving incredibly fast and consistent during day two in Argentina, the Honda rider won eight of the day\u2019s 13 special tests to secure his second victory of the weekend. \u201cIt feel\u2019s incredible to have won again<\/em>,\u201d told a delightedSALVINI<\/strong>. \u201cI felt comfortable with my bike and was able to ride how I wanted to. Taking three wins in South America is unbelievable for me \u2013 now my goal is to keep working hard when the series returns to Europe.<\/em>\u201d Following his disappointment of fourth on day one, Spain\u2019s\u00a0Ivan CERVANTES (KTM) <\/strong>bounced back to place as runner-up to\u00a0SALVINI <\/strong>on day two. Unable to completely close the gap to\u00a0SALVINI<\/strong>,\u00a0CERVANTES<\/strong> finished just eight seconds behind the Honda rider. Looking fast during the early part of the day, France\u2019s\u00a0Pela RENET (Husaberg)<\/strong> saw his chance of victory disappear with a costly crash on the technical enduro test. He recovered to end his day in third. Unable to repeat his podium result from day one, France\u2019s\u00a0Johnny AUBERT (KTM)<\/strong> placed fourth, while Manxman\u00a0David KNIGHT (Honda)<\/strong> fought through the pain of an injured finger to finish fifth.<\/p>\n

In the Enduro 3 <\/strong>category, it was\u00a0Aigar LEOK<\/strong> that claimed the win. Capitalising on a problem by class leader\u00a0Christophe NAMBOTIN<\/strong>\u2019s KTM,\u00a0LEOK <\/strong>gladly inherited the race lead on the final lap. Making no mistakes on the final enduro test, the TM Racing rider secured victory. \u201cI\u2019m so happy to have won<\/em>,\u201d confirmed\u00a0LEOK<\/strong>. \u201cUnfortunately Nambotin had a problem but last week I also had mine. Today I made no mistakes and rode as hard as I could. It feel\u2019s fantastic to leave South America with a win<\/em>.\u201d Although matching the pace of\u00a0LEOK <\/strong>throughout most of the day, Sweden\u2019s\u00a0Joakim LJUNGGREN (Husaberg) <\/strong>couldn\u2019t close the gap to the TM rider and ended his day as runner-up. Italy\u2019s\u00a0Manuel MONNI (KTM)<\/strong> delivered a solid day of racing to take his first podium result of the season with third place. Despite setting the fastest time in 11 of the day\u2019s 13 special tests,\u00a0NAMBOTIN<\/strong>\u2019s problems in the final cross test robbed him of victory and pushed him back to fourth position. Portugal\u2019s\u00a0Luis CORREIA (Beta)<\/strong> completed the top five.<\/p>\n

In the\u00a0Enduro 1 <\/strong>category the fight for victory was between\u00a0Antoine MEO<\/strong> and Finland\u2019s\u00a0Juha SALMINEN (Husqvarna)<\/strong>. With little to separate the duo throughout the day, it was\u00a0MEO<\/strong>\u2019s stunningly fast time in the final enduro test that delivered him victory. \u201cJuha <\/strong>and myself fought hard for the win<\/em>,\u201d remarked\u00a0MEO<\/strong>. \u201cI found it hard to find a good rhythm in the morning but began to feel more comfortable as the day progressed. I gave it everything I had in the final enduro test and thankfully it was enough to win.<\/em>\u201d Fast and consistent during the day,\u00a0SALMINEN <\/strong>provided quite a challenge to\u00a0MEO<\/strong>. But unable to match\u00a0MEO<\/strong>\u2019s time in the final test, the Husqvarna rider was forced to settle for second. Securing his second podium result of the weekend, Finland\u2019s\u00a0Matti SEISTOLA (Husqvarna) <\/strong>finished third. In the battle for fourth position, Italy\u2019s\u00a0Simone ALBERGONI (Honda)<\/strong> narrowly beat fellow countryman\u00a0Thomas OLDRATI (Husaberg) <\/strong>by less than one second to take fourth with\u00a0OLDRATI <\/strong>rounding out the top five.<\/p>\n

On day two in Argentina a new winner emerged in the\u00a0Enduro Junior <\/strong>class with Rudi MORONI (KTM)<\/strong> taking the win. Day one victor, Australian\u00a0Matt PHILLIPS (Husqvarna)<\/strong> placed 14 seconds behind the Italian to claim the runner-up result. Manxman\u00a0Danny MCCANNEY (Gas Gas) <\/strong>secured his second podium finish of the weekend with third place. Sweden\u2019s\u00a0Robert KVARNSTROM (Beta) <\/strong>placed fourth with Italy\u2019s\u00a0Giacomo REDONDI (KTM) <\/strong>rounding out the top five. Manxman\u00a0Jamie MCCANNEY (Husaberg) <\/strong>earned his second win of the weekend with a 16-second margin of victory in the Enduro Youth Cup class. Italy\u2019s Dawid CIUCCI (Husaberg)<\/strong> ended his day as runner-up. Chile\u2019s\u00a0Benjamin HERRERA (TM) <\/strong>completed the top three.<\/p>\n
