KTM\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Antoine MEO (F)<\/strong> fought his way back into contention to claim his second win of the weekend in the Enduro 1 class while France\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Christophe NAMBOTIN (KTM)<\/strong> improved on his previous day\u2019s result to win the Enduro 3 category in Talca.<!--more--> In the Enduro Junior class, Italy\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Giacomo REDONDI (KTM) <\/strong>secured victory as local favourite\u00a0<strong>Benjamin HERRERA (TM)<\/strong> topped the standings in the Enduro Youth Cup.<\/p>\n<p>After setting the fastest\u00a0<strong>E1 <\/strong>time on the opening enduro test,<strong>MEO <\/strong>slipped back down the running order as Italy\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Thomas OLDRATI (Husaberg)<\/strong> took control of the race lead. With both riders virtually tied on time entering the third and final extreme test,\u00a0<strong>MEO <\/strong>delivered a stunningly fast time to claim his second victory of the weekend.\u00a0<em>\u201cI started out quite strongly in the morning but then lost my way a little bit during the day,<\/em>\u201d confirmed\u00a0<strong>MEO<\/strong>. \u201c<em>On the last lap I gave it my maximum and by setting the fastest time in the last extreme test I managed to take the win.<\/em>\u201d Looking incredibly strong throughout the day,\u00a0<strong>OLDRATI <\/strong>was unable to fend off the late charge from\u00a0<strong>MEO <\/strong>and was forced to settle for second position. Improving greatly on his day one result of seventh, Finland\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Eero REMES <\/strong>placed third to secure his debut podium result for TM Racing. Although posting the fastest time in four of the day\u2019s nine special test, Finland\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Matti SEISTOLA (Husqvarna) <\/strong>crashed on the tricky uphill during the final enduro test and slipped back to fourth position. Finland\u2019s<strong> Juha SALMINEN (Husqvarna) <\/strong>completed the top five.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Enduro 2 <\/strong>class saw a new winner emerge with Italy\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Alex SALVINI (Honda)<\/strong> claiming victory. The win, which was his first in the EWC since quitting motocross, came after a hard fought battle with Spain\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Ivan CERVANTES (KTM) <\/strong>and France\u2019s<strong>Johnny AUBERT (KTM)<\/strong>. With little to separate the trio throughout the day,\u00a0<strong>SALVINI <\/strong>topped the day\u2019s final enduro test to claim a 14-second margin of victory. \u201c<em>I\u2019m incredibly happy to win. It\u2019s my first career win in enduro,<\/em>\u201d told a delighted\u00a0<strong>SALVINI<\/strong>. \u201c<em>I felt strong all day and was able to ride like I know I\u2019m capable of. It\u2019s been a great day.<\/em>\u201d Jumping up two positions from his day one result of fourth,\u00a0<strong>CERVANTES <\/strong>finis hed as a deserved runner-up to\u00a0<strong>SALVINI<\/strong>. \u00a0<strong>AUBERT <\/strong>claimed his second podium result of the weekend with third place. Unable to repeat his winning result from day one, France\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Pela RENET (Husaberg)<\/strong> was fourth. Setting the fastest time in the final extreme test, Britain\u2019s\u00a0<strong>David KNIGHT (Honda)<\/strong> placed just three seconds behind\u00a0<strong>RENET <\/strong>in fifth.<\/p>\n<p>In the\u00a0<strong>Enduro 3<\/strong> class, France\u2019s<strong> Christophe NAMBOTIN (KTM) <\/strong>ended his day as the winner. Although struggling to find a comfortable rhythm on the dry and dust terrain,\u00a0<strong>NAMBOTIN <\/strong>delivered some impressive performances. Topping five of the day\u2019s nine special tests, the KTM rider secured a solid 18-second win. \u201c<em>Even though I\u2019ve won it\u2019s been a difficult day for me,<\/em>\u201d remarked\u00a0<strong>NAMBOTIN<\/strong>. \u201c<em>I struggled to get a good feeling with the track and crashed more than I would have liked.<\/em>\u201d Sweden\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Joakim LJUNGGREN (Husaberg)<\/strong> continued his run of good form to end his day as runner-up. Proving that he will be a strong contender in this year\u2019s championship, France\u2019s<strong> Rodrig THAIN (Gas Gas)<\/strong> bettered his day one result of fourth to secure a podium result with third position. Portugal\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Luis CORREIA (Beta)<\/strong> capped off a successful weekend in Chile to end the second day fourth with Italy\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Manuel MONNI (KTM)<\/strong> rounding out the top five.<\/p>\n<p>In the\u00a0<strong>Enduro Junior<\/strong> class, Italy\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Giacomo REDONDI (KTM)<\/strong> repeated his winning result from day one. Spain\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Mario ROMAN (Husaberg)<\/strong> set a fast pace throughout the day and finished as runner-up to\u00a0<strong>REDONDI<\/strong>. Making his debut in the EWC at the\u00a0<strong>GPAcerbis\u00a0of Chile<\/strong>, Australia\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Matthew PHILLIPS (Husqvarna)<\/strong> ended day two in third overall. France\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Loic LARRIEU (Husaberg)<\/strong>was fourth with Britain\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Daniel MCCANNEY (Gas Gas) <\/strong>ending his day in fifth.<\/p>\n<p>Claiming his second victory of the weekend, Chile\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Benjamin HERRERA (TM)<\/strong> took the Enduro Youth Cup class win.
