\"Rodrig<\/a>After a month and a half of rest, giving riders the opportunity to race in different national championship events, the\u00a0Maxxis FIM Enduro World Championship<\/strong> is back with the Grand Prix\u00a0Scorpion Exo\u00a0of Italy<\/strong>.
\nNow in the second half of the championship the\u00a0GP\u00a0Scorpion Exo\u00a0of Italy<\/strong>, takes place in the picturesque medieval town ofCastiglion Fiorentino<\/strong> in\u00a0Tuscany<\/strong>, with the event marking the start of the second half of the 2012 EWC series. <\/p>\n

An experimented and dynamic Moto Club!<\/strong><\/p>\n

For the first time of its history, the\u00a0Moto Club Castiglion Fiorentino \u201cFabrizio MEONI\u201d<\/strong> has received the honour, via theFederation International of Motorcyclist<\/strong> (FIM<\/strong>), of organizing this transalpine round of the championship. From its side, theFederazione Motociclista Italiana<\/strong> (FMI<\/strong>) is a regular of the EWC and always assists with the organization of memorable EWC races in Italy. The\u00a0Moto Club Castiglion Fiorentino \u201cFabrizio MEONI<\/strong>\u201d, chaired by\u00a0Angiolo BARBAGLI<\/strong>, has organized 118 events including numerous rounds of the Assoluti d\u2019Italia \u2013 the elite Italian Enduro Championship \u2013 as well as a round of the European Enduro Championship and some Supermoto races. The Moto Club of the late\u00a0Fabrizio MEONI<\/strong> is well-experienced and dynamic.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Moto Club Castiglion Fiorentino \u201cFabrizio MEONI<\/strong>\u201d, assisted by\u00a0Gio SALA (Race Inspector)<\/strong>, has prepared a track of 55 kilometres, which will be ridden four times each day during the two race days. Each lap will feature two Time Checks. The paddock will be situated in the heart of the medieval city, on the\u00a0Piazzale Garibaldi<\/strong>. The\u00a0Enduro Test<\/strong>, 6 kilometres in length, will be located in\u00a0Fonte Partini<\/strong> where the monument in memory of\u00a0Fabrizio MEONI<\/strong> can be seen. For its part, the\u00a0Xtreme Test<\/strong>(2kms) will be placed in\u00a0la Foce<\/strong> while the Cross Test<\/strong> will be on the gates of\u00a0Todiolo <\/strong>and will be 6 kilometres in length. The\u00a0KTM Super Test<\/strong> on Friday, June 29th will take pla ce on the foot of\u00a0Castiglion Fiorentino<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Castiglion Fiorentino<\/strong> is situated in the province of\u00a0Arezzo <\/strong>in\u00a0Tuscany<\/strong>, and separates the\u00a0Valdichiana <\/strong>from the\u00a0Valtiberina<\/strong>. This wonderful medieval town, classified as an\u00a0UNESCO<\/strong> world heritage site, has more than 13000 inhabitants covering an area of 113 kms2. Its historical centre offers more than 12 churches, including\u00a0San Agostino<\/strong> from the 13th century, but also a\u00a0medieval dungeon<\/strong> and the\u00a0Pretoria Palace<\/strong>. The spectacular\u00a0Castello di Montecchio <\/strong>is only a few kilometres from the town.\u00a0Castiglion Fiorentino<\/strong> is situated only 18 kilometres from\u00a0Arezzo<\/strong>, 100 kilometres South from\u00a0Firenze <\/strong>and 230 kilometres north from the Italian capital\u00a0Roma<\/strong>. Numerous medieval festivals are organized all around the year on the\u00a0Piazzale Garibaldi, where the EWC paddock will be situated. Finally, the region is well-known for its wineries and its olives and\u00a0Castiglion Fiorentino<\/strong> is no exception offering excellent wines in one of\u00a0Tuscany <\/strong>most beautiful settings.<\/strong>

Castiglion Fiorentino<\/em><\/p>\n

Double or nothing!<\/strong><\/p>\n

After his remarkable Iberian tour,\u00a0Pierre-Alexandre RENET (F \u2013 Husaberg)<\/strong> will arrive in Tuscany as the\u00a0E2 <\/strong>leader, looking to extend his championship advantage. His compatriot and friend,Johnny AUBERT (F \u2013 KTM)<\/strong>, who is back on form following a tough start to the championship, will strive to continue his improved results while hoping to be able to take the fight for victory to the Husaberg rider.\u00a0Cristobal GUERRERO (E \u2013 KTM)<\/strong>and\u00a0Juha SALMINEN (SF \u2013 HVA)<\/strong> will be looking for nothing other than race winning success as will\u00a0Ivan CERVANTES (E \u2013 Gas Gas) <\/strong>who, after a disappointing Spain\/Portugal tour will be committed to getting back on the podium. The big Surprise of the first part of the season,\u00a0Jeremy TARROUX (F \u2013 KTM)<\/strong>, will be looking to again show himself as a worthy podium candidate following his two top three result s in Munitibar and Torres Vedras.\u00a0Fabio MOSSINI (I \u2013 KTM)<\/strong>,\u00a0Deny PHILIPPAERTS (I \u2013 BETA) <\/strong>and\u00a0Oscar BALLETTI (I \u2013 Beta)<\/strong> will be driven by the enthusiasm of their home crowd. Finally,\u00a0Luis CORREIA (P \u2013 Yam)<\/strong> and\u00a0Jordan ROSE (GB \u2013 TM)<\/strong> will continue learning during their first EWC seasons, and may mix up the results. To note,Alex SALVINI (I \u2013 HVA)<\/strong> will be absent as he will participate in the X-Games Endurocross event in the States.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0Enduro 3<\/strong>, the main question is who can stop\u00a0Christophe NAMBOTIN (F \u2013 KTM)<\/strong>? Since the start of the season the French rider has dominated the class proving himself to be head and the shoulders above his rivals. Christophe will be keen to continue his unbeaten run. But\u00a0Joakim LJUNGGREN (S \u2013 Husaberg) <\/strong>and\u00a0Aigar LEOK (I \u2013 TM) <\/strong>are looking to secure victory, as they battle to be the first to beat the KTM rider. David KNIGHT (GB \u2013 KTM)<\/strong>, after a month and a half of rest, should come back with new motivation and will do all he can to stop\u00a0NAMBOTIN<\/strong>.\u00a0Oriol MENA (E \u2013 Husaberg) <\/strong>will look to climb on the podium for the third time this season while\u00a0Sebastien GUILLAUME (F – Gas Gas)<\/strong> will want to confirm h is encouraging return to racing.\u00a0Marko TARKKALA (SF \u2013 Beta)<\/strong> must absolutely be looking to give the Italian Beta company their first, long awaited, E3 class podium. It would be inappropriate to forget\u00a0Marcus KEHR (D \u2013 KTM)<\/strong> and\u00a0Christophe ROBERT (CH \u2013 Husaberg)<\/strong> who have made a very encouraging start to their seasons. Special mention for\u00a0Andrea BELOTTI (I \u2013 KTM)<\/strong> and\u00a0Manuel MONNI (I \u2013 KTM) <\/strong>who will perform in front of their home crowd and be more motivated than ever.<\/p>\n

Despite his mechanic troubles during the first day in Portugal,\u00a0Antoine MEO (F \u2013 KTM) <\/strong>continues to dominate in\u00a0Enduro 1<\/strong>. 31 points ahead of his nearest rival\u00a0Rodrig THAIN (F \u2013 HM Honda)<\/strong>, the Frenchman will undoubtedly be looking to extend his championship lead.\u00a0Rodrig THAIN <\/strong>earned his first victory in Portugal and there\u2019s no doubt he\u2019ll also be looking for more success.\u00a0Eero REMES (SF \u2013 KTM)<\/strong> has benefited from the injuries of\u00a0Simone ALBERGONI (I \u2013 HM Honda)<\/strong> and\u00a0Marc BOURGEOIS (F \u2013 Yam)<\/strong> to take the 3rd place in the provisional rankings, but the Finn wants to prove that he can do better.\u00a0Matti SEISTOLA (SF \u2013 HVA)<\/strong> will confirm his return to form in Portugal while the showman\u00a0Marc BOURGEOIS <\/strong>should be back from injury to spice things up. The Bordone Ferrari rider\u00a0Tho mas OLDRATI (I \u2013 KTM) <\/strong>and Simone ALBERGONI (I \u2013 HM Honda)<\/strong>, who\u2019s back from injury, will be racing at home and will have a big advantage – the public will have eyes only for its local stars.<\/p>\n

Who can stop BELLINO?<\/strong><\/p>\n

In\u00a0Enduro Junior<\/strong>, French rider\u00a0Mathias BELLINO (Husaberg)<\/strong>, fresh from his perfect Iberian tour (4 wins out of 4) will arrive inCastiglion Fiorentino<\/strong> aiming to again prove that he is still the best youngster this season. But the Italians,\u00a0Jonathan MANZI (KTM)<\/strong>,\u00a0Edoardo D\u2019AMBROSIO (KTM)<\/strong> and\u00a0Rudi MORONI (KTM)<\/strong>who will be at home will not want to be upstaged easily whileVictor GUERRERO (E \u2013 KTM)<\/strong>,\u00a0Kevin BENAVIDES (ARG \u2013 KTM)<\/strong>and\u00a0Mario ROMAN (E \u2013 KTM)<\/strong> will also do their best in the hope of not being outdone by the spectacular\u00a0BELLINO<\/strong>. In\u00a0FIM Youth Cup 125cc<\/strong>, the local rider\u00a0Giacomo REDONDI (I \u2013 KTM)<\/strong>, who appears headed for the title, seeks to dominate the competition in Tuscany, while\u00a0Luis OLIVEIRA (P \u2013 Yam) <\/strong>andGuido CONFORTI (I \u2013 Yam)<\/strong> will seek a first victory.<\/p>\n

Finally, in the Women class,\u00a0Ludivine PUY (F \u2013 Gas Gas)<\/strong>, will celebrate her 30th birthday on Saturday, but won\u2019t be taking things easy in any way. She\u2019ll have her work cut out trying to finish ahead of\u00a0La\u00efa SANZ (E \u2013 Gas Gas)<\/strong>, but that\u2019s exactly what she\u2019ll have to do if she wants to take back valuable points in the title race. With only 6 points between the two riders everything is to play for. For third place, we will see another intense duel between the two French riders\u00a0Blandine DUFRENE (Husaberg)<\/strong> and\u00a0Audrey ROSSAT (KTM)<\/strong>. The Australians\u00a0Jemma WILSON (Honda)<\/strong> and\u00a0Jessica GARDINER (Yam)<\/strong> will continue their improvement while\u00a0Juliette BERREZ (F \u2013 TM)<\/strong> has had to withdraw from this GP because of a painful wrist injury while\u00a0Samantha TICHET (F \u2013 HVA) <\/strong>will be back.< br \/> This\u00a0Grand Prix\u00a0Scorpion Exo\u00a0of Italy<\/strong>, presented by\u00a0Acerbis<\/strong>, is an eagerly awaited event in a region that is passionate about motorsports and that has already staged many National and European events.
