Andrea Verona (GASGAS) is an Italian that cannot wait to compete in this year’s FIM International Six Days of Enduro (ISDE). The opportunity to compete in his own ‘back yard’ and represent his country in the World Trophy Team competition with a very real chance of both team and individual success, comes few times in a career.
Already a five-time FIM International Six Days of Enduro competitor, Andrea first raced in the event in Slovakia in 2015, as a Club team competitor.
So, what is it that makes the FIM International Six Days of Enduro truly unique? For starters, there is the history – the event is the longest running event on the annual FIM calendar, first run (as the International Six Days Trial – ISDT as it was back then) in Carlisle, England, in 1913. Then there is the fact that it is a team event – the ISDE is a FIM World Championship competition for national teams, with riders’ performances combining to determine a team’s result. And then there are the rules – many aimed at ensuring the ISDE remains a true test of machine, rider skill, and reliability.
When it comes to the FIM World Trophy competition, each nation can enter a maximum of four riders with the best three scores used to give combined daily and end-of-event team results. In the FIM Junior World Trophy competition, for riders under twenty-three years of age, three riders are entered per nation with the three best scores used to give combined daily and end-of-event team results. In the FIM Women’s World Trophy competition two rider scores are counted, with the team with the best time getting the victory.
The ISDE runs using what many see as ‘old-school enduro rules’ where only riders are allowed to work on their bikes, once in competition.

When the 95th edition of the FIM International Six Days of Enduro (ISDE) gets underway in Lombardy / Piedmont, Italy from 30th August to 4th September 2021, it will mark the eleventh time that this enduro mad country has hosted this historic event. Only Great Britain, which held the original competition in 1913 has welcomed the ISDE more times and holds the record with twelve editions having been held within its territories.
Italy’s long association with this demanding competition, which was originally titled as the International Six Days Trial (ISDT) before being renamed ISDE in the early eighties, began in 1931 as the town of Merano had the unique honour of hosting the event in back-to-back years. Bron: KNMV. Tijdens een training heeft Wesley Pittens zijn bovenbeen gebroken. Het herstel na de operatie neemt langere tijd in beslag, waardoor Wesley helaas niet aan deze editie van de ISDE kan deelnemen. Daarom zal Max Schwarte uit Nijverdal de plek van de geblesseerde Pittens in het World Trophy Team overnemen.
De wens van Max om voor het Nederlandse landenteam uit te komen, komt eerder in vervulling dan gepland. Max zou in de ISDE namelijk als clubteamrijder al rijden. Het KNMV endurobegeleidingsteam heeft er alle vertrouwen in dat Max het WTT-team in sportief opzicht maximaal aanvult en als rijder de groep versterkt.
Het World TT ziet er nu als volgt uit:

E3 – Thierry Pittens (#222)
E2 – Max Schwarte (#223)
Het JTT blijft ongewijzigd en bestaat uit:
E1 – Mike Bokslag (#224)
E1 – Jarno Zandbergen (#225)
E3 – Marc Zomer (#226)
Het ISDE wordt van maandag 30 augustus tot en met zaterdag 4 september georganiseerd in Italië.
GEWIJZIGD BERICHT. Bron: KNMV. Vandaag heeft de KNMV officieel bekendgemaakt welke rijders zijn geselecteerd voor de World- en Junior Trophy teams in het ISDE (Internationale Six Days Enduro).
Om te beslissen welke rijders de selectie kunnen halen, heeft de endurobegeleidingsgroep gekeken naar de data die verzameld is tijdens de teambuilding, trainingsdagen en de finale meting tijdens de speciale kwalificatiedag in Neerijnen op 2 juni. Uiteindelijk is er een weloverwogen besluit genomen.
Het World Trophy Team (WTT) zal bestaan uit:
Tommie Jochems
Daan Bruijsten
Thierry Pittens
Wesley Pittens
De rijders in het Junior Trophy Team (JTT) zijn:
Marc Zomer
Jan-Willem Arendsen Mike Bokslag
Jarno Zandbergen
De KNMV heeft vertrouwen dat beide teams zowel op individueel niveau als in teamverband maximale prestaties kunnen leveren.
Voor de begeleidingsgroep – bestaande uit Henk Boersma (teammanager WTT), Stephan Braakhekke (teammanager JTT), Amel Advokaat (endurocoach) en Mario Pieterse (KNMV-gedelegeerde) – rest er nu de belangrijke taak om de verdere voorbereidingen in orde te maken zodat ons ‘oranje’ fris en verzorgd aan de start verschijnt.
Wijziging JTT
Voor het JTT was in eerste instantie een plek vergeven aan Jan Willem Arendsen. Echter, volgens het FIM ISDE reglement 2021 moeten alle geselecteerde JTT rijders de leeftijd onder de 23 jaar hebben (peildatum 1 januari). Bij het vaststellen van de selectie was echter uitgegaan van een leeftijd tot en met 23 jaar. Voor Jan Willem Arendsen betekent dit dat hij, op grond van zijn huidige leeftijd, reglementair niet meer in het JTT mag uitkomen. Dat was erg triest nieuws voor Jan Willem (en zijn familie). Wel gaat hij als clubteamrijder naar de ISDE. De vrijgekomen plek in het JTT wordt ingevuld door Mike Bokslag.
De ISDE vindt plaats van maandag 30 augustus tot en met zaterdag 4 september, op de grens van de Italiaanse regio’s Piëmont en Lombardije in het plaatsje Rivanazzano Terme.
