This weekend, the FIM Borilli EnduroGP World Championship season will end with a second GP in two weeks in Marco de Canaveses, Portugal! With all the titles yet to be awarded, the weekend promises to be thriling!

The Same, Yet Different…
So it’s once again Marco de Canaveses and the Motor Clube Marco that will host the best Enduro riders in the world this weekend for the last event of the year. The riders will have a slightly “watered-down” route compared with the tough one last weekend and the special tests will be run in reverse order. Therefore, the lap will start with the Technomousse Xtreme Test followed by the Akrapovic Cross Test before the first time control. The second part of the lap will only involve the Champion Enduro Test. Note that, like last week, there will be no Akrapovic Super Test on Friday evening due to Covid safety standards!

“The toughest weekend of the season…” This is how many riders summed up the second day at the Acerbis Grand Prix of Portugal. Pouring rain was the theme of Sunday in Marco de Canaveses, but we still saw 99 protagonists take to the start line, ensuring a spectacular day of racing which saw a new winner in the EnduroGP class…

After three years of absence Josep GARCIA (E – KTM) made a great comeback on Saturday when he took 3rd overall, but on Sunday he brilliantly won the EnduroGP category by more than 15 seconds ahead of his nearest rival, Brad FREEMAN (GB – Beta)! Matching the pace of the British duo

Voor Max Schwarte was het na de eerste proef over. Een reden is nog niet bekend. Mike Bokslag stond na vier proeven 10e van 13 rijders in de Youth klasse. Maar op de route tussen proef 5 en 6 hield de motor er mee op. Waarschijnlijk iets met elektrisch en vocht. Tegen de tijd dat ze hem gevonden hadden en de motor weer aan het lopen kregen, was het kwartier al voorbij. Jammer want het ging lekker en hij kon het goed volhouden.
In de EnduroGP ging de winst naar Josep Garcia maar het kan natuurlijk zijn dat Freeman (2e)  en Holcombe (3e) meer naar elkaar keken. Garcia deed voor het eerst mee dit jaar, dus die wordt geen kampioen. Wel fijn dat hij mee “mocht” doen.

The first day of the Acerbis GP of Portugal was action-packed and it promises yet more to come! Three special tests perfectly carved out by Moto Clube Marco, drier weather than expected, and riders all keen to do battle after more than a month and a half of break – everything was in place to have a hell of a day of racing!

And that’s what we got in EnduroGP! While Brad FREEMAN (GB – Beta) started out very strong and took the lead on the first lap his great rival Steve HOLCOMBE (GB – Beta) was closing in. The dark horse of weekend, the returning Josep GARCIA (E – KTM) was also pushing hard, ready to jump on the slightest mistake from the defending champion.
